What is the largest city in area in the contiguous 48 states?

It says clearly the largest city in "AREA"; which means size of the city not the size of the population.

Unfortunately, because humans can't control their greed, this city along with many other may soon be under water.

Lived there as a teenager. Just remember the beach, high school and the mall. Otherwise I don't recall it being any larger than any other big city I've lived in or near. Of course that was a very long time ago. They might have soaked up the surrounding towns into the city limits to make the city larger by now.

I heard it as the largest unincorporated city in the lower 48 many years ago.

I somehow remembered reading long ago it was Jacksonville. LA should have been one of the choices, it covers a lot of area.

I guessed Houston...what else to have to do in Texas, but make big cities?...Jacksonville was named after President Jackson....if you go with the public knowledge, Jackson was all right....but if you dig a little deeper he was a two faced bas*ard and I hope they take him off the 20 $ bill...he used indians as allies and promised them the moon....then he forced them from their lands....Van Buren was blamed for the depression during his administration, but Jackson's refusal to renew the charter of the bank of the U.S. was a great cause....a fellow named Remini is his biographer and I don't know how that fellow sleeps at night...he sleeps quite well, actually...I just found he has passed away....a lot of people like Andy Jackson, but I say "learn the truth".....

OKC used to be the largest in area/square miles. But not anymore!

Got it right! I've been thru Jacksonville several times but never stopped by. Gotta put that on my bucket list!

Well Puerto Rico a USA colony is about 100 square miles with population 3.5 million people...that's why the USA will not give PR statehood...we will have more power in the house of Rep. and the senate...
