Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, it covers around 10,000 square miles. Most of the land is mountainous, and home to active volcanoes, such as Etna. It is separated from the mainland by just 1.5 miles. Sicily is surrounded by the Tyrrhenian, Mediterranean, and the Ionian Seas. The sonnet, a popular form of poetry, originated on this island. Sicily is also home to the largest opera house in Italy, the Teatro Massimo.

Mozzie Tsolaks, Nothing wrong with the question. The answer is correct. Sicily is larger than Sardinia by 600 square miles.
