What is the most populated city in Africa?

16% of the population of the planet is concentrated on the African city. Lagos is a port and the most populous city in Nigeria. Its population of approximately 16 million people also makes it the most populous city on the continent.

When the state of Lagos was created, this city became its capital as well. later it was moved to the city of Abuja. The state of Lagos, being the smallest in Nigeria, also remains the most populous one. The state, together with the city of the same name, grows very rapidly and presents one of the fastest growing states on the planet.

Nowadays Lagos is officially known not as a city, but as a metropolitan area. It first appeared as a port city on islands, including Lagos Island. The city has expanded onto the mainland with the course of time. Nowadays it is considered the most developed city of the country, which is becoming clearer and more beautiful every month. More and more tourists come to visit the city every year.

HOW DID THIS QUESTION MAKE IT THROUGH REVIEW.. DOESN'T ANYONE CHECK ANYTHING... 16% OF THE POPULATION OF OUR PLANET WOULD MAKE THE WORLD'S POPULATION @ 100 MILLION, WHILE THE REAL NUMBER IS ALMOST 8 BILLION. DOESN'T QUIZZCLUB CHECK THE VERACITY OF THESE CLAIMS? AND I GOT THE QUESTION RIGHT.

As of 2012, the population of the planet topped 7 billion. 16% of that is 1.12 billion. The two most populous COUNTRIES in the world are China and India. The entire population of China is only 1.367 billion. India's population is 1.251 billion and you're saying the CITY of Lagos alone has 1.12 billion people? I dont think so. Time to do some fact checking!

something is very off with this question, the right answer is not even listed, as there are 2 that can think of for the most populated city in africa ... but well, what do you expect from these "quizzes", but well sometimes do have good questions and real/right answers

Whoever copied this answer misread the article that they referenced. The first sentence of your statement should read, "Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent. With 1.5 billion people as of recent estimate in 2015 , it accounts for about 20% of the world’s human population." The section on Lagos has no mention at all of percentages, but rather reads: " Lagos is a port and the most populous city in Nigeria. The metropolitan area originated on islands, including Lagos Island, that were protected from the Atlantic Ocean by sand spits. The city has expanded onto the mainland west of the lagoon, however, with Ikeja, the capital of Lagos, and Agege over 25 miles northwest of Lagos Island. Lagos has a population estimated at 21 million in 2014, which makes it the largest city in Africa." I have no idea where the 16% statement came from.

Africa has about 800 million people. At 16 million, Lagos is only 2% of the AFRICAN population.

Lagos is usually given as the most populous city in Africa, but Cairo must be close, and the numbers are probably unreliable, so the question would have been best avoided.
