She is gorgeous and independent. She works hard to give weight for her roles and we think that her exotic appearance (septum piercing, multiple tattoos) and her heritage (African-American and Ashkenazi Jewish) help her to be different from many other actresses.

The thing that started to make a change in her attitude about acting, was the fact that she decided to step over the moral issues that "The Cosby Show" practice, in deciding to pose nude on the big screen in the movie "Angel Heart" that co-starred Actor Mickey Rourke. She has recently co-starred in an arc of episodes of "Showtime's" Ray Donovan, before her character was killed off this season. She has been married to Actor Jason Momoa, & lives a quiet life on the Hawaiian Islands with the couple's children from their marriage. She also has gone through with changing her name to a Hawaiian one, in adapting to the Hawaiian way of life. But she continues to use her given name for work in the entertainment industry.
