What is the name of the NBA franchise located in Salt Lake City, UT?
On June 7, 1974, the New Orleans Jazz were admitted as an expansion franchise into the National Basketball Association. The Jazz drew well during their first five years. However, by 1979 the franchise was sinking financially. Barry Mendelson, the team's executive vice president for most of the early years, said one factor in the financial trouble was an 11 percent amusement tax, highest in the U.S. at the time. The team also failed to gather any corporate sponsorship. In June 1979 the NBA approved moving the team to Salt Lake City, UT. The team was later purchased by Larry H. Miller. The other team names are University of Utah Utes, Brigham Young University Cougars and the defunct ABA team Utah Stars.

Ok. I can see Louisiana Jazz - but Utah Jazz just seems an oxymoron.

I'm guessing "The other team names" would be other teams in Utah not other teams owned by Larry Miller or other names the Jazz were before.

Lynne Zeman, the name was purchased just like the Raider's It is just a name with the team moving around from town to town. That is why when I refer to Raiders it is "Raiders WHEREVER" I am having a teeshirt made up to say as such.

Glad I used a hint because I had the team names personally all mixed up.......I thought certain teams had different names and my son set me straight in no uncertain terms!!!!!
