What is this fish called?

This fish has one of the most splendid scale colorings – the purple one. No wonder it is called a "Purple Queen". Besides being just beautiful, it also stands out from all the tropical fish. The thing is that the fish of the type are always hatched…females! A female species can become a male one in case of the dominant male's death. Sounds crazy, but true!

Saying what species the fish is would be meaningful. It is an anthias, a saltwater fish. A male anthias will typically have a harem of from 3 to 6 females. These are peaceful fish often kept in a reef aquarium, because they do not eat corals.

There are many species of tropical fish that can "morph" to become the male sex if one is not around...swordtails, and plattys come to mind...
