What point on the surface of the Earth is farthest from the Earth's center?
While not even close to being the highest mountain and a solid 2,580 m lower in elevation above sea-level than the Earth's highest mountain, Mt. Everest, Chimborazo lies almost directly on the Equator. Since the Earth itself is not a sphere, but an oblate spheroid (the phenomenon of rotation), the summit of this mountain is about 6,384.4 km from the center of the Earth!
What are your thoughts on this subject?
