What soap brand was introduced by Procter & Gamble in 1926 as a 'white, pure soap for women'?
Camay is the name of a scented hand and body soap, made by Procter & Gamble. It was first introduced in 1926 and marketed as a "white, pure soap for women," as many soaps of the time were colored to mask impurities. Camay's slogan for many years was "Camay: the soap for beautiful women." It was later replaced with "For your most beautiful complexion at every age."
In the 1970s, its television spokesmodel was Princess Luciana Pignatelli, an Italian socialite, writer, and cosmetics executive.
In December, 2014, P&G announced that it was selling Camay to Unilever. The companies completed the deal in 2015, but Unilever has not yet announced when it will start producing Camay soap.

I always understood that Ivory soap was considered "...99 & 9/10 pure..." This drove our late science teacher crazy, as the advertising never stated "pure what?" Plus, it is a white soap...most other soaps, like Camay, were pink, when they started out, acc. to my mother and grandmother...it also caused some folks to break out in a rash; Ivory rarely did.

I actually knew this one & got it right! I remember the commercials. I hate Ivory soap. It smells weird plus I have an allergic reaction to it. I have used Dove soap for years. In my opinion & my dermatologist, it is the best soap for all skin types plus people with acne. Great question!

I almost picked Camay because it was for women but all of my memories are of pink Camay, not white. White and pure is associated with Ivory soap!

jann...Actually it was, and still is "Dove" that advertised that, and it was "Dove Beauty Bar with 1/4 Moisturizing Cream." It was was "Moisturizing Cream" not "Cleanzing Cream"!

Ivory's first slogan, "It Floats!", was introduced in 1891. The product's other well-known slogan, "99 44⁄100% Pure" (in use by 1895), was based on the results of an analysis by an independent laboratory that Harley Procter, hired to demonstrate that Ivory was purer than the Castile soap then available.

babafrby...It was "Pure and White" when it came out, in 1926. It has changed, over the years, and yes, it's no longer "White" (not sure about the "Pure" part, anymore, though. 🤷🏻♀️ Plus, now, Camay comes in other colors, and Scents, not just Pink.
