What town is depicted in Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night?

I have neither knowledge not appreciation, and I knew the answer.

One of the best Matt Smith's Doctor Who episodes is when he and Amy went back to visit Van Gogh.............okay kind of silly, but when the curator of the museum waxes lyrical about Van Gogh with him standing there was neat.

I got it wrong and I know Art that`s my dad and brother are both named Art lol but you don`t need to feel sorry for us people that don`t know art work speaking for myself my knowledge is in different areas.

Van Gogh was Danish... however he did spend time in St Remy's mental institution, so that was a good guess for me :)

He was from present day Netherlands. Sent to France to "recover"

He wasn't in "rehab" certainly not as we know it today. It was an asylum, think of the movie Dracula with Winona Ryder.... Not at all therapeutic. He was depressed but they had no idea what that was, how to treat it or what to do with him. They all got treated the same way often with violence but never with compassion
