What was the last year in which Rugby Union was included in the Summer Olympic Games?

Regular 15-a-side Rugby Union was in the Summer Olympics on four occasions: the years 1900, 1908, 1920 and 1924. Rugby was then dropped from the Games. However, Rugby sevens (a variant of Rugby Union in which teams are made up of seven players with shorter matches) has been reinstated for the forthcoming Olympic Games in 2016.

Rugby is still played in the Olympics. Just the rugby union is not in charge of it any longer.

As noted, rugby was reintroduced in the 7 a side format in 2016.

Margaret Wyatt, The sport debuted at the 1900 Paris games where the gold medal was won by the host nation. It was subsequently featured at the London games in 1908, the Antwerp games in 1920 and the Paris games in 1924.
