What was the name of the building where Martin Luther King Jr. was killed?
Martin Luther King, Jr. was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee on the 4th of April, 1968. He was 39 years old. The prominent leader of the Civil Rights Movement was pronounced dead at 7:05 that evening.
King was known for his use of nonviolence and civil disobedience. He considered the society he lived in sick and obsessed with hate, as he was a contemporary of John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963. King sometimes predicted he would die the same way and talked about that with his wife a lot. Anyway, King taught his followers that murder could not stop the eternal struggle for equal rights, and that became a part of his powerful philosophy.
On Thursday April 4, 1968 King was staying in room 306 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. King had gone out onto the balcony and was standing near his room when he was struck at 6:01 p.m., by a single .30-06 bullet fired from a Remington Model 760.

James Earl Ray confessed and was convicted. He recanted shortly before his death, saying he had been framed. His death rendered the point pretty much moot, as there was now no way to conduct an investigation. To any who answered incorrectly, racial hatred and prejudice was alive and well in the South in 1968. Dr. King would have been turned away from the larger chain hotels.

James Earl Ray after a two month massive manhunt. He had fled to Canada, got a passport under a fake name, and was apprehended at Heathbrow Airport, while carrying two different passports. He died in prison.

Good question. My guess would be that they conducted an exploratory surgery to find the bullet. It was then that they discovered this 39 year old man had the heart of a 60 year old, most likely due to the stress of leading the Civil Rights Movement.

In 1968,I was in Northwest Tennessee working on my Grandfather's farm when I had to return to Dallas,TX. On returning,I drove through Memphis and right through what I thought was a war zone. When I stopped to put gas in my motorcycle,I was told that Dr. King had been killed. He started speaking against the war in Viet Nam and was there for the sanitation Workers strike,so that may have contributed to his demise.
