What was the original capital of Arizona?
Tucson is a city in and the county seat of Pima County, Arizona, United States, and home to the University of Arizona. From August 1861 to mid-1862, Tucson was the western capital of the Confederate Arizona Territory, the eastern capital being Mesilla. In 1862 the California Column drove the Confederate forces out of Arizona. Tucson and all of what is now Arizona was part of New Mexico Territory until 1863, when it became part of the new Arizona Territory. From 1867 to 1877, Tucson was the capital of the Arizona Territory.

Well, LOVELY, the US government first named Fort Whipple the capital in 1863. In May 1864 it moved to Prescott. Then in 1867 the capital moved o Tucson. Next it moved back to Prescott in 1877. Finally, in 1889, the capital moved permanently to Phoenix. Please get your facts straight prior to posting. Thanks!

I got this “right”. With a 50/50 but after doing some research, I have to agree with the “original” sequence of Ft Whipple and then Prescott prior to Tucson. I believe Marian Spitzig has it right. Of course, we could all be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time that the majority was wrong...think of 2016.
