What year did Disney World open?

The Walt Disney World Resort, also known as Walt Disney World or Disney World, is an entertainment complex in Bay Lake, Fla. (Its mailing address is Lake Buena Vista, Fla.), near Kissimmee and Orlando.

The resort opened on October 1, 1971, and is the most visited vacation resort in the world, with an attendance of over 52 million annually. Young and old love the resort: children can meet the characters of their favorite films and cartoons, and adults may enjoy the miraculous architecture of the place.

I first went there in 1972 and it was very new, so I knew it had to be 1971

Jas Newman, They were still building EPCOT when I was there in 1974.

Lawanta , My husband at the time and I drove from Connecticut to Miami with a couple who had been celebrating their 5 year. In a volkswagon beetle, no less! It was our first time, but the other couple had been before, and wouldn't stay until dark, needless to say, we were very upset!

Karin Johansson, Actually, the Disney West Coast headquarters is endangering the future of Disney World because Disney's traditional supporters view the company's policies and feud with the state as hostility directed against the customers whom Walt had so carefully cultivated. It is not Florida that is responsible for the sharp dropoff of visitors to the parks since the West Coast corporate leadership began the cultural war against Florida. BTW, if the Disney parks in Florida continue to alienate customers, you should dump your Disney stock before its too late.

I went with a couple friends in 1981, and it was their 10th anniversary. The next time I went was in 1991 with my mom... we wanted to visit Epcot Center, which had recently opened 🤩

I knew it was 1971 because mom and dad set up a special savings account at the bank or credit union to save the money for a family vacation there. We went in 1973.

I watched the opening of Disneyland (in California) on when it was televised on 17 July 1955. Had to wait until July 1958 before my parents were able to take me and my two sisters for our first visit. On 1 October 1971, Disney World Resort (the first of the resorts) opened in Florida just a couple of months after we got married. In this case, our (me, wife and son) waited until about July 1984 for our first visit there.
