When were millennials born?

They are called Generation Y, why is that? it’s because when they work for you, they keep asking - Y do I have to do that? This is why I don’t employ them anymore. You pay them wages but mostly they expect to be paid more & they want to be paid more....😱

Gen Y term got superseded by the term millenials because this population cohort hit their teens, 20s and early work lives in the 21st century not before. It's evocative and fixes a timeline in mind more than Gen Y ... I am a Boiler and technically so is my youngest sister but she has more in common with Gen X. Faced redundancies and privatisation and has had three severance packages In her working life! These terms are useful because each cohort faces different economic conditions than the previous one

I always thought that the generation Xers were the children of baby boomers, maybe just the older boomers like the 65-72 age group. My daughter is a gen Xer being born in 1977 and I know some gen Xers born in 1975.

Milennials are from 2000 onwards not before. As to Generation Y, they ask a lot of questions however they usually have a very good work ethic. They also know when they are being taken advantage of and usually will put their foot down. They are strong and know how to survive.

Richard Jamieson, sadly I have often had to work with millennials (I'm a "baby boomer") and in far too many cases there was a marked lack of work ethic and far too much whining. It's sad.

That break down makes absolutely no sense. A millennial should be one born in 2000 ... My granddaughter and grandson were born in 2000. They should be right in the middle of the millennials.
