Where is Jockey's Ridge, the tallest sand dune system in the Eastern United States located?
JOCKEY'S RIDGE is the tallest active natural sand dune system in the Eastern United States. Located in Nags Head, it is one of the most significant landmarks on the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Shifting winds are constantly reshaping the dunes. Because the Ridge is always changing, it is often referred to as "The Living Dune." The dunes never blow away because Northeast and Southwest winds blow the sand back and forth.

I spent a night once in Nags Head and visited Kill Devil Hills and the Wright Brothers Memorial, so I recognized this too😉

My first choice in using the double chance was North Carolina. I figured that that state had the best chance of forming sand dunes. I wasn't sure of which state that I would have tried next.

The dunes are gradually encroaching on an adjacent neighborhood where we once owned a house.
