The island castle in the above picture is located on Ischia Island, Italy. The stunning Aragonese Castle of Ischia rises from the Bay of Naples. The castle is connected to Italy's Ischia island only by a 721-foot stone bridge. Initially built in 474 BC by Hiero I of Syracuse, it reached its glory days during the 14th century.

The castle is now privately owned, but guests, tourists, and others are able to take guided tours or attend special events. Also, the castle has four small unforgettable apartments and an area containing the Il Monastero hotel. Guests can stay in the parts of castle just noted or they can seek other experiences if they seek to explore the castle walls, terraces, churches, antique archways, courtyards, or gardens. Plus there are always many outstanding views of the sea and Ischia harbor to enjoy.
