Where is the volcano Krakatoa?

The Sunda Strait is the strait between the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra. It connects the Java Sea to the Indian Ocean. The name comes from the Indonesian term Pasundan, meaning "West Java". It also comes from the name of the Sundanese people, the native people of West Java, with the Javanese people being found mostly in Central and East Java.

The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) began in the afternoon of August 26, 1883 (with origins as early as May of that year), and culminated with several destructive eruptions of the remaining caldera. On August 27, two-thirds of Krakatoa collapsed in a chain of titanic explosions, destroying most of the island and its surrounding archipelago. Additional alleged seismic activity continued to be reported until February 1884, though reports of those after October 1883 were later dismissed by Rogier Verbeek's investigation. It was one of the deadliest and most destructive volcanic events in recorded history, with at least 36,000 deaths being attributed to the eruption itself and the tsunamis it created. Significant additional effects were also felt around the world.

So supplement the answer given above, Krakatoa's 1883 eruption is thought to be the loudest sound the Earth has ever made, registering at 172 decibels 100 miles away (to put that into context, the human pain threshold is 130, and just ten decibels more sounds twice as loud). "It was heard 1,300 miles away in the Andaman and Nicobar islands (“extraordinary sounds were heard, as of guns firing”); 2,000 miles away in New Guinea and Western Australia (“a series of loud reports, resembling those of artillery in a north-westerly direction”); and even 3,000 miles away in the Indian Ocean island of Rodrigues, near Mauritius (“coming from the eastward, like the distant roar of heavy guns.”) In all, it was heard by people in over 50 different geographical locations, together spanning an area covering a thirteenth of the globe." Sheryn Whitehurst, "Krakatoa, East of Java" was a 1960s film, inaccurately using east when it should have been west. But, the producers thought east sounded more atmospheric.

This eruption in 1883 was only minor compared to the gigantic pre history eruption which almost totally blocked out the sun for several years and slowed all growth to nearly kill everything worldwide as can be found in petrified tree trunks . The culderas in the 1883 eruption were all that remained of the original massive volcano .

Technically the answer is all over the world as the volcano with that name was pulverized and the dust spread everywhere, the picture shows the current volcano on the same site which is called Anak Krakatoa (meaning child of Krakatoa).
