She is primarily known for her role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise. Kathleen Conway, It’s not insulting. She is primarily Known for the 4 Alien films she did. She’s still proud of that role. And what she loves in that character is absolutely not present in the Working Girl or Ghostbusters roles. There’s nothing wrong with saying “primarily”, as she is most widely known for that role. If it said “exclusively known for”, that would be insulting and inaccurate. “I’m so glad Ripley’s had that staying power. In those days, films would always have a scene where the girl in the skirt is doing something heroic & then she’ll break down. Well, Walter Hill & David Giler never wrote Ripley like that. These were guys, like Ridley, who loved women & were with strong women so it was natural to them to create a character like her. Ripley has to go from being a by-the-book young lieutenant to throwing the book out the window & just improvising her way through things, which is life, and it sends the message that you can do it, no matter what it is.” - Sigourney Weaver “

Never seen Alien, but I know who Sigourney Weaver is from Working Girl, Gorillas in the Mist, Ghostbusters and Avatar. It's really insulting that you characterize her as being primarily known as Ripley.

She is known for Alien, but I don't feel that "primarily" is a great term for this actress. I think she was great in the "Ghostbusters" films, and was outstanding in "Working Girl", for both of which I would recognize her more.
