Which city in the USA during the Prohibition Era was the setting for the U.S. TV series "Boardwalk Empire"?
In the USA during the Prohibition Era, Atlantic City was the setting for the U.S. TV series "Boardwalk Empire". Atlantic City at the dawn of Prohibition was a place where the rules didn't apply. During the period, the man who ran things -- legally and otherwise -- was the town's treasurer, Enoch "Nucky" Thompson. He was equal parts politician and gangster.
Side by side with his brother Elias, Atlantic City's sheriff, and a crew of ward bosses and local tough guys, Nucky gained a reputation as the man to see for illegal alcohol. He was in business with all the top gangsters -- Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and "Big Jim" Colosimo. Things go well for Nucky until a former protégé takes matters into his own hands. He will set the Feds on Nucky and cause some major trouble for the treasurer of Atlantic City.
