Felix Mendelssohn was a widely known German composer of Jewish origin. He lived and worked during the early Romantic period.

Felix was born into a prominent and rich family. The child grew up in an intellectual environment and was recognized early as a musical prodigy. Despite the fact that his parents didn't pay much attention to his extraordinary talent, the boy enjoyed early success in his native country. Mendelssohn's conservative musical tastes set him apart from many of his musical contemporaries. On the 25th of January, 1858 his Wedding March was played at the marriage ceremony of Queen Victoria's daughter.
