The Godfather Part II is a cult crime film produced and directed by F. F. Coppola. Most critics consider it one of the greatest films in American film history.

Note from history: This film became the first sequel to have won Best Picture. The Godfather Dilogy remain the only original/sequel combination to both win Best Picture. Along with The Lord of the Rings, The Godfather Trilogy shares the distinction that all of its installments were nominated for Best Picture.

I saw Matt Damon on THE LATE SHOW w/ DAVID LETTERMAN and he said there are 3 sequels better than the original. The New Testament is better than the Old Testament, "Huckleberry Finn" is better than "Tom Sawyer," and "The Godfather Part 2" is better than "The Godfather."

NOT a "cult" film; Wikipedia defines it thusly: "A cult film, also commonly referred to as a cult classic, is a film with a cult following, obscure or unpopular with mainstream audiences, and often revolutionary or ironically enjoyed".

And it was the only sequel to win the Oscar until 2003, when Best Picture was awarded to "The Return Of The King", final film in the 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy.
