Which group holds the record for most Grammy Awards won by a group?

U2, an Irish rock band from Dublin which was formed in 1976, holds the record for most Grammy Awards won by a group. They have won 22 Grammy Awards more than any other band. U 2 received their first Grammy Award in 1988 for The Joshua Tree, and they have their 22 awards out of 34 nominations. Some of their awards include: Best Rock Duo or Group, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Rock Album.

In 2005, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility.

Just goes to show how the industry has changed. I can't imagine U2 getting into RnR HoF so quickly. Many important and period defining artists have yet to be considered. I guess that having technology of a larger world audience means more than being among the pioneers or early mainstays of the industry.

Jakob Gerber, yes, I agree the Beatles should be the reigning champs, but the Grammys were not even heard of then that I recall. I was born in 52 so the Grammys should have been more prominent by the mid 60s to early 70s. Obviously not in mid- America.

Just shows that genius ,and musicality mean nothing. The Beatles should rightfully have ten times more Grammys than anyone. The Dixie Chicks are GREAT ! U2 is so far down the melodic ladder ... It just goes to show the ineptitude of the nominating committee,and the politics of this joke of an event . Rather like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
