Which of these countries exists?

Only one country from the list exists - the Republic of China, which is the official name of a sovereign state Taiwan.

This might be interesting: The German Democratic republic (or East Germany) was a part of Germany occupied by the Soviet Union. It was founded in 1949 and got back together with the rest of the country in 1990. Czechoslovakia split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic in 1993. Fortunately, it was a self-determined split and both sides separated in peace.

The PRC is mainland China. The Republic of China is Taiwan, which the Nationalist Chinese formed when the communists took over the mainland.

The German Democratic Republic was the official name of East Germany. West Germany was called Bundesrepublik Deutschland .. I was there during the end of the Cold War

James Vetzel, Look again at the answer Taiwan, not the Chinese mainland, is the Republic of China. The People's Republic of China and The Republic of China are separate countries. A bit like East & West Germany were.

I controlled U-2s over mainland China for several months in the late ‘50s from a radar site on Taiwan/Formosa which has today and had then, the legal name of “The Republic of China.” The answer is correct and there is nothing wrong with the question. All of you who are shouting “wrong” are, in fact, WRONG!
