Which state has as its official motto "Live Free or Die"?
New Hampshire's state motto is probably the best-known in the US. "Live Free or Die" is different from the milder mottos of other states, that's why it's so memorable. It also speaks to an assertive independence historically found in American political philosophy and expresses the national spirit of America. The phrase origins in a famous toast by General John Stark, the most famous New Hampshire's participant of the Revolutionary War. He sent it to his comrades to commemorate the Battle of Bennington. He may not have been the inventor of the phrase, but definitely was the one to popularize it, so later the phrase became the powerful motto.

Yep,the right to live free should be imposed upon more by government,I mean we as people should'nt be allowed to make our own decisions.How in the world could such simple minded people, such as we are, be allowed to have our own thoughts? Freedom is something we should turn over to a higher power such as government,let someone else decide for us which is best ...because government isn't out for themselves ,they are there for our betterment...SATIRE, SATIRE,SATIRE.

I like the Motto. I also hate wearing seat belts and helmets. In MO, helmets are mandatory...in KS, just across the state line, no helmet is required!
