John F. Kennedy was one-of-kind as President, seeking to unify and not to divide. It is a tragedy that his life was cut short by violence and that his moderate vision for America was not fully realized. Kennedy and Barry Goldwater were good friends and colleagues who worked together to craft meaningful legislation. Where is that reservoir of good faith in politics today? Where is the meeting of the minds to actually solve societal problems instead of making them worse?

I think we should make military service or some other voluntary service such as Peace Corps, a requirement to run for president. Men and women who are willing to truly know the meaning of sacrifice for their country.
