Which US President was buried with his body wrapped with the American flag and his head resting on a copy of the US Constitution?

Andrew Johnson (born December 29, 1808 – died July 31, 1875) was the 17th President of the United States, serving from 1865 to 1869. He became president after President Abraham Lincoln's assassination since he was US Vice President at the time. Johnson was buried in Greenville, Tennessee. As he requested, his body was wrapped with the American Flag and his head resting on a copy of the U.S. Constitution.

Ironic that Johnson was the first President to be impeached by the House and they did it in one day in less than an hour. He deserved to be removed from office by the Senate but was saved by one vote. Generally considered to have been our worst President although that may change in the relatively near future.

I question that statement. You made me curious so I did search the Internet and can find NO source that says Nixon was buried wrapped in a flag OR with his head on a copy of the constitution.

Richard D. Boyle, I considered two of the options to be facetious. Eliminated Lincoln as the least likely to do this. Johnson, on the other hand, I didn't consider as deserving of such honor, therefore the most likely to have requested it.

Actually, the town where he is buried is GREENEVILLE, TN. There is an extra "e" between the "n" and "v". I went to college there and we used to joke about Green-E-ville.

Bill Coe, there is one loopy entry claiming to be from the la Times. It also says Nixon was the only president to be impeached. Of course Nixon was never impeached but Clinton and Johnson were.

I have to admit that is definitely one way of showing "love for country" with a request such as President Andrew Johnson, wanted carried out at his funeral.

Bill Coe, although I was serving in the "United States Navy Submarine Fleet," at the time of President Richard Nixon's passing away. After returning back to port & honoring him in death. I don't recall any special request to be carried out at his funeral.
