Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on the 2nd of March, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. His pen name was Dr. Seuss, and he wrote a lot of popular children books under it.

Once Geisel was asked to create a primer for children based on 220 vocabulary words. His work resulted in "The Cat in the Hat" book, which met an immediate success and cemented a good position in children literature for its author.

Geisel wrote a lot of books over the next several years, using his unique style and simple vocabulary. His work How the Grinch Stole Christmas was adapted into a famous cartoon.

Today, limited-edition prints and sculptures of Geisel's artworks can be found at galleries alongside the works of Rembrandt, Picasso and Miro. Sixteen of his books are on Publishers Weekly's list of the "100 Top-Selling Hardcover Children's Books of All-Time."
