Who is this man?
John Huston was a film director, screenwriter and actor. Can you imagine that this outstanding man received 15 Oscar nominations and won twice? He also "directed" both his father and daughter to Oscar wins.
Critics say that Huston directed his films with the vision of an artist. He wrote the screenplays for most of the films he directed. In his twenties, he worked as a fine art painter in France. He was known to continue the exploration of the visual aspects of his films throughout his career. He sketched each scene on paper beforehand and then carefully framed his characters during the shooting.
Today most of his films are considered classics.

Images on Google are notoriously unreliable. If you scroll far enough after typing Walter Huston, you will come across images of Walter Cronkite! The photo shown with the question is, without a doubt, John Huston.

A most impressive catalog of work by a true genius in cinema. Among his better-known films are "The Maltese Falcon" (1941), "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948), "The African Queen" (1951), and "The Misfits" (1961). His performance in "Chinatown" (which is the source of the photograph displayed) as Noah Cross is the embodiment of self-serving evil. His films were not always successful (especially from Box Office standards) but were always interesting and thought provoking.

Yes, I think I have watched most of his movies, including his daughter's disasterous, first movie. Although, I have read several biographies that featured him in some way, I had NO idea that he was such a prolific artist or the background logics of his directing. This is a wonderful question and truly a "teachable" moment! Great job! Apparently someone below me in the comments disagrees,after they googled.. I stand by my assessment. That will teach them not to google the answer!
