Richard Weedt Widmark was an American film, stage and television actor and producer. He was born on the 26th of December, 1914 and died on the 24th of March, 2008.

He is best known for his role in the "Kiss of Death" film, where he played villainous Tommy Udo. For this role Widmark was nominated for an Oscar and got a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer.

In the early days of his career Widmark played a lot of anti-hero characters in film noirs. Later he started playing in westerns and took more heroic leading roles. He also appeared in mainstream horror and drama motion pictures a lot.

Widmark has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6800 Hollywood Boulevard and is inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
