Maureen Paula O'Sullivan was an Irish-American actress, who was born on the 17th of May, 1911, in Boyle, County Roscommon, Ireland. Her filming career began after she met Frank Borzage, an American film-director. She took a screen test and won a role in the 1930 film Song o' My Heart. Soon she left for America to complete her work.

After having filmed in several movies at Fox and other studios, she signed a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to appear as Jane Parker in Tarzan the Ape Man. This O'Sullivan's work opposite Johnny Weissmuller became her most prominent role. She later played Jane in six features between 1932 and 1942.
