Who played Barth Gimble in Fernwood 2 Night (or Fernwood Tonight)?

Fernwood 2 Night (or Fernwood Tonight) was a comedic television program that ran daily from July 1977 to September 1977. It was created by Norman Lear and produced by Alan Thicke as a spin-off/summer replacement from Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. It was a parody talk show, hosted by Barth Gimble (Martin Mull) and sidekick/announcer Jerry Hubbard (Fred Willard), complete with a stage band, Happy Kyne and His Mirthmakers (featuring Frank De Vol as the ironically dour "Happy" Kyne, and Tommy Tedesco as one of the guitarists). Barth was purportedly the twin brother of Garth Gimble from Mary Hartman.

Loved that show! Best spoof of a talk show ever. Came back a year later as America Tonight and actually had celebrity guests, going along with the spoof.

Martin Mull has established himself as a recording artist, actor in both television and film, and author. I can't think of anyone other than Steve Martin that has exhibited the same sort of cross-genre talent. He has been a featured performer on television shows rangiing from "Roseanne" to "Two and Half Children" (as well as shows in which he was the featured performer). His comedy recordings were nominated for Grammy awards. His exhibition of ascerbic wit has consistently been in contrast to the "bluer" material of his contemporaries, but his innocent countanance has made his comedy effective.
