Who was Grigori Rasputin?

Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin (Russian: Григорий Ефимович Распутин) was a Russian peasant, mystical faith healer and a trusted friend to the royal family of the last Tsar of Russia. In fact, there is much uncertainty over his life and degree of influence he exerted over the royal family.

However, most historians say that his influence and position may have been exaggerated, though his presence really played an important role in the increasing unpopularity of the Imperial couple.

I was fascinated by the assassination story. He was very difficult to poison drown etc. Came across the story aged 11 in Dads collected the London Illustrated News papers.

Bill Coe - Where else could one learn about Rasputin? I learned about him in a book about the Romanovs, last emperor of Russia, unseated through revolution and eventually, the entire family executed.
