Caleb Moore was the first person to become a fatal casualty of the X-Games. These X-Games are an annual extreme sports event hosted, produced, and shown on U.S. television by ESPN.

Caleb was born in Krum, Texas, and he was injured on January 24, 2013, during the Snowmobile Freestyle part of Winter X Games XVII, which was held in Aspen, Colorado. During his crash, the 450-pound snowmobile came down on his chest. Caleb was able to walk away from the accident with help. He went to the hospital; and, they discovered bleeding around his heart. He succumbed to his injuries on January 31; he was 25 years old.

Caleb started off his career in extreme sports, racing ATVs when he was noticed by a scout. The scout suggested that he try snowmobiling; the only problem was that Caleb lived in Texas and there was no snow. In order to learn how to do snowmobile tricks, Moore's father built a special pit so he could train. Caleb's first X-Games competition was in 2010 where he got a Bronze medal in Freestyle. Every year from then on, Caleb Moore obtained a medal at the Winter X-Games.

January 24, 2013 was a bad day for the Moore family. Both Caleb and his younger brother, Colten, were competing in the Freestyle Competition at the Winter X-Games in Aspen, Colorado. Earlier in the day, Colten was injured and separated his pelvis. Caleb's run was even more devastating. His bad run turned out to be the last of his life; he was attempting a trick that he had performed many times before.
