Who was the first person to be attacked by Africanized Honey Bees "Killer Bees" in the United States?

In May of 1991, Jesus Diaz became the first person to be attacked by these infamous "killer bees" in the U.S. The attack occurred while Jesus was mowing a lawn in the border city of Brownsville, Texas. Diaz ended up suffering a total of 18 stings and was treated at a local hospital.

On July 15, 1993, on his ranch near Harlingen, Texas, 82-year-old Lino Lopez became the first person to die in the U.S. from Africanized honey bee stings. He was stung over 40 times while trying to remove a colony from a wall in an abandoned building.

mntvoglein, the question asks "in the United States". Looks like a country to me. It also asks "THE FIRST person to be stung". If he was the first person, the year doesn't matter. That means the first person it EVER happened to!

I read the question but did not answer it properly. I chose Lino Lopez because he was the first person to die from killer bee attack. After I got it wrong I reread the question. It pays to read the questions accurately. 😁

I lived about 12 miles west of Brownsville at the time of the attacks,but couldn't remember the names,so guessed. I was bothered several times and built a trailer for a 50 gallon tank and pump full of soapy water for emergencies.
