You probably have heard of the race horse named "Seabiscuit". Did Seabiscuit ever win any of the "Triple Crown" races i.e. Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, or Belmont Stakes?

Seabiscuit ran 89 times at 16 different distances over the course of his career. While he did run on the Pimlico Park track in 1938 against against War Admiral it was not the Preakness Stakes. Seabiscuit never won any "Triple Crown" Race.

Brooklyn Handicap (1937)

San Antonio Handicap (1940)

Santa Anita Handicap (1940)

Seabiscuit is popular because he was considered a real people's horse. He was not expected to amount to much against the Super Kentucky champions. But then he took the track by storm winning some big races before going on to defeat the great War Admiral and capturing the heart of a nation.

The story of Sea Biscuit is a real underdog story. I've read about it & watched the movie. Amazing horse! The most amazing horse in history was Secretariate. I am fortunate to be old enough to remember his race when he won the Triple Crown. A horse they called Chams (or something like that) was favored to win. They didn't think that Secretariate (Big Red) could go the distance. I remember sitting & watching in utter amazement with tears streaming down my face as Big Red passed Chams & just kept building speed like a locomotive. He ended up winning by something like 32 lengths! The best horse race & race horse of all time. I believe that Big Red is the only animal to be inducted in the athlete's hall of fame. If you haven't seen it, Google it. They have a video you can watch. You won't be sorry.

he lost most of his races as a three year old (triple crown is for 3 year olds). Matured and began winning as a four year old. Match race with War Admiral was when he was four.

flanderschristy, I was at that race at Belmont in 1973. There were only 5 in the race because no one really wanted to challenge him. The horse you are thinking of is Sham, not Charms. Secretariat took control early in the 1.5 mile race and won by 31 lengths in the record time of 2:24. I was down near the rail to witness it. I still have the program and losing tickets from that race. I question your interpretation of whether he could go the distance. Big Red (who I believe is buried at Belmont) was a huge 2-5 favorite, and as I said, no one really wanted to take him on. I bet two $2 exactas (to predict the 1-2 finish) and lost both. One was Secretariat and Sham, one was Secretariat and another horse. At the wire, Sham got passed for 2nd place by Twice a Prince, the longshot. My friend had that combo in his exacta and won $35! I also attended the Belmont in 1971 and 1972.

Ramrod, You should watch the movie, it's awesome! It makes me cry every time I see that little horse run his heart out to beat War Admiral. War Admiral was a giant in the horse world. I believe he was 17 or 18 hands. My brother had a horse that was 16 hands & believe me, that's tall. I can't imagine 17 or 18 hands.

Think of Seabisquit as a pre-cursor to the NBA’s Bill Russell. At his prime, Wilt Chamberlain (War Admiral) [Re-]wrote the NBA record books. Ya wanna win 1 game (or a 7-game series)? Then bet on Russell/Seabisuit. Jerry West’s nose was broken 14 times. Russell accounted for most, if not all of those. In a “non-contact” sport! Try to beat Me, will ya?! Seabisquit, in typical Russell fashion, was having None of That!
