"Black Monday" is the day following the final Sunday of the National Football League season (NFL Week 17) on which numerous coaches and general managers of under performing teams are fired or resign their positions. The term may also be used on the day following the annual NFL Draft where players' contracts may be terminated.

After the 2013 season, Washington's Mike Shanahan, Detroit's Jim Schwartz, Minnesota's Leslie Frazier, and Tampa Bay's Greg Schiano were all victims of Black Monday. The Cleveland Browns did not even wait that long, axing Rob Chudzinski on Sunday night after tne season. The Titans fired Mike Munchak, and Houston let Gary Kubiak go.

With the end of the 2014 NFL season, it was one of the busiest Black Mondays to ever occur. Seven coaches and five general managers were replaced. The Falcons, Broncos, Bears, 49ers, Raiders, Bills, and Jets dismissed their coaches. Each of these teams hired new head coaches for the 2015 season. Also, the Tennessee Titans hired a new head coach after Ken Whisenhunt was fired.

When the 2015 ended, the following teams: the Buccaneers, Browns, Dolphins, Eagles, Giants, Jaguars, and Titans fired top coaches. Again, Black Monday had a good number of victims. Respectively, each team just mentioned got a new head coach for 2016.

For the 2017 NFL season, five teams got new head coaches. This was a result of Black Monday for 2016. On that day or after, the Bills, Broncos, Chargers, Rams and 49ers fired their top coach.
