According to the popular American commercial/ad jingle, what's "the best part of waking up?"
"The best part of waking up, is Folgers in your cup!" was a commercial jingle every American, whether they drink coffee or not, could sing by heart. Folgers was able to strongly use this jingle as an iconic tune in TV and radio commercials for over 35 years.
Folgers as a coffee brand was promoted with the slogan "The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup!". In almost every advertisement that Folgers featured since 1984, the slogan was fastidiously used until the 2010s. The slogan's lyrics were by Susan Spiegel Solovay and Bill Vernick, and the music was by Leslie Pearl, a Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter.
The coffee brand itself is named after the company's founder James Folger. In the 1850s, he traveled from Massachusetts to California. He hoped to get rich from gold mining but instead partnered with a coffee roaster. Folgers Coffee accordingly has its roots in San Francisco, CA. Since the 1960s however, New Orleans, Louisiana has played a major role in the production of Folgers Coffee.
After taking over the reins of the company in 1889, James Folger II took Folgers Coffee national, using its bulk roasted coffee to spread the name throughout the country.
