What biblical character did Bill Cosby portray in one of his comedy routines?
Bill Cosby plays Noah on his debut album 'Bill Cosby is a Very Funny Fellow...Right!', which was recorded live at the nightclub 'The Bitter End' in New York City's Greenwich Village, during early 1963. The album includes three sketches about Noah.
Noah is in his workshop when the voice of God calls out his name in a deep sonorous voice. Noah, looks around, doesn't see anyone and goes back to work. God says his name again. Noah, still doesn't see anyone and asks, 'who is there'? the voice answers 'God'. Noah sarcastically says 'Right'. And then wants to know if it's his neighbor playing with him.
The comedic banter goes back and forth about how to build the ark and what the specifications are. Finally, Noah wants to know why it needs to be built. God talks about the flood and how he will make it rain for 40 days and nights. Noah responds why don't you just block up the sewers and let it rain for a couple of day? God says 'Right' understanding that will work just as well because the sewers are poorly made.
