The 1982 epic sword-and-sorcery film "Conan the Barbarian" was directed by John Milius. It was written by Milius and Oliver Stone. Based on Robert E. Howard's novel "Conan the Barbarian", the film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Earl Jones, and tells the story of a barbarian warrior named Conan (Schwarzenegger) who seeks vengeance for the death of his parents at the hands of Thulsa Doom (Jones), the leader of a snake cult.

Oliver Stone (b. September 1946), an American filmmaker, has become known as a legendary filmmaker who astutely knows how to make films with very controversial subjects. His films are also filled with a variety of film angles and styles; he pushes his actors to give Oscar-worthy performances, and despite failures, he always seems able to find success.

Stone was born and attended schools in New York. After dropping out of Yale University, he fought as a soldier in the Vietnam War. Adding to the war, he was introduced to The Doors, drugs, Jefferson Airplane, and other things that defined the 1960s.

After the war, Stone didn't return to graduate from Yale. He wanted to make films. His first film was a student film titled "Last Year in Viet Nam" (1971), followed by the horror film "Seizure" (1974). Next, he directed several films and wrote many screenplays for films such as "Midnight Express" (1978), "Conan the Barbarian" and "Scarface" (1983). He won his first Oscar for "Midnight Express"; his fame was then beginning to show. It now continues.
