Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, is a medication used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain. At a standard dose, paracetamol only slightly decreases body temperature; it is inferior to ibuprofen in that respect, and the benefits of its use for fever are unclear. Paracetamol may relieve pain in acute mild migraines but only slightly in episodic tension headaches.
Therefore to conclude, Acetaminophen, Paracetamol, and Tylenol(Brand) are all the same and as indicated clinically, it gives both analgesia (pain relief)and antipyretic (anti-fever) effect.

My doctor recommended it for arthritis. I don't suffer from fever but from knee osteoarthritis.

Paracetamol (B.P. for British Phramacopiea), or Acetaminoaphen (USP) are the generic names for Panadol (UK, Commonwealth, Australia etcetera) or Tylenol, the trade name for this anti-pyretic in the US and some other countries. While it is prescribed for analgesia, as well; it has no real analgesic effect, though it relieves fever induced headache. In combination with the Opiate (Opioid in the US) Codeine it has an analgesic effect and prolongs the excretion of Opiates from the body. Paracetamol is toxic to the liver and should be limited to no more than 8 x 500 millegramme (mgs) tablets per day. As little as 20 tablets can cause serious Liver Damage and people have died from overdose. Acetaminophen was designed to be less damaging to the stomach than Acetasalicylic Acid (Aspirin), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Also to replace Phenacetin which caused many deaths from Renal Damage (Kidneys).
