Approximately, how many hours per day do pandas spend eating?
Pandas spend their lives eating bamboo and walking around the forest floor. They are good climbers and can also swim.
According to a research, a wild panda spends 14 hours eating bamboo every day. Its activity pattern is: 21:00-2:00, resting (sleeping at night); 2:00-7:00, foraging (breakfast); 7:00-10:30, resting; 10:30-11:00, wandering and playing; 11:00-12:00, foraging (lunch); 12:00-14:30, resting; 14:30-21:00, foraging (supper);
A panda needs about 12 to 38 kilograms of food per day, approximately 40% of its own weight. They prefer eating tender stems, shoots and leaves of bamboo, all of which are richer in nutrition and lower in fibrins.
