Martin Scorsese’s mother, Catherine Scorsese appeared in seven films and overall got a little more screen time (especially in Goodfellas, where she played the mother of Joe Pesci's character).

She also appeared in ''Mean Streets”, ''New York, New York”. ''Cape Fear”, ''Casino'' and other films by her son, as well as ''Godfather III'' and ''Desperately Seeking Susan”.

While not a professional actor, she had a presence on screen that was always warm and pleasant, and it was endearing how Scorsese got his parents to appear in his movies, even when he was one of the biggest directors in America. Catherine often cooked meals for the cast and crew members of her son's films.

Scorsese was born under the name "Catherine Cappa" in 1912. She was a native of Little Italy, Manhattan, New York City, with both of her parents being Sicilian Americans. Her father Martin Cappa worked as a stage coordinator in theatre, while her mother Domenica owned her own shop.

Joe Pesci (frequently playing a funny, occasionally menacing character) appeared in the only four films directed by Martin Scorsese.

Harvey Keitel (one of Scorsese’s favourite actors) appeared in six films directed by Scorsese.

Leonardo Di Caprio (recently described as Scorsese’s go-to-actor) has appeared in six films directed by Scorsese including “Killers of the Flower Moon” apparently due to be released in October 2023.
