'The Beatles' were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. With a line-up comprising of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they are regarded as the most influential band of all time.

All of those saying the answer is wrong need to research more carefully. The Beatles have 15 number one albums in the U.K., whilst Elvis Presley only has 13 number one albums. The answer given is correct.

I actually knew it must be and i was in a trauma on the question, so wanted to know whether it was true or not , but the search showed Elvis was so, thought it must be, but alas it was the Beatles. So I was right, anyway.

Toby Lundy, Originally an "album" was a book like item with several sleeves instead of pages. Each sleeve contained a record (usually a 78 rpm disc) with one tune on each side. Hence, the word "album." It was like a photo album.
