As of 2023, who is the only cricketer to have scored 5,000 Test runs against a single opposition?
Sir Donald George Bradman (27 August 1908 – 25 February 2001), nicknamed "The Don", was an Australian international cricketer, widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of all time. His cricketing successes have been claimed by Shane Warne, among others, to make Bradman the "greatest sportsperson" in history. Bradman's career Test batting average of 99.94 is considered by some to be the greatest achievement by any sportsman in any major sport.
Don Bradman is the only player in the world to have scored 5000 Test runs against a single opposition: 5028 runs against England.
Playing in only his tenth first-class match, Bradman, nicknamed "Braddles" by his teammates, found his initial Test a harsh learning experience. Bradman was caught scoring one run and Australia were all out for 66 in the second innings and lost by 675 runs (still a Test record).
Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC). A match consists of four innings (two per team) and is scheduled to last for up to five days.
