Bataan day is a national legal holiday in the Philippines. It marks the anniversary of the disastrous Battle of Bataan, fought in 1942, when the country fell to the Empire of Japan.

On this date we remember the soldiers who were captured and those people who died during the infamous "death march". Only 70% of the prisoners survived; the exact death toll is still difficult to assess.

The holiday is also known as Heroes' Day. So let's remember all of the heroes...
