Before 1991, What ingredient was different between the plain and peanut M&M's?

This answer is wrong. The plain M&Ms did not and still do not have WHOLE peanuts. That makes the whole peanut a different ingredient. If Plain M&Ms had whole peanuts, they couldn't label them "Plain"!

The fact remains that the ingredients were the same. Even with your way of thinking you are still wrong. The 'ingedients' in peanuts and chopped peanuts are the same...peanuts!

Do original M&Ms have peanuts? Per MMS.COM the ingredients are "Ingredients: sugar, cocoa mass, skimmed milk powder, cocoa butter, lactose, starch, milk fat, palm fat, glucose syrup, shea fat, stabiliser (gum arabic), dextrin, glazing agents (beeswax, carnauba wax), colours (E100, carmine, E132, E133, E150a, E150c, E150d, E153, E160a, E160e, E162, E163, E170), beetroot concentrate, emulsifiers (soya lecithin, E445), salt, flavourings, palm kernel oil, antioxidant (E306). (May contain: peanut, hazelnut, almond). Milk chocolate contains milk solids 14% minimum. Milk chocolate contains vegetable fats in addition to cocoa butter" Although no peanuts are used in making plain M&M's it is possible that there may be traces of peanuts as the peanut M&M's are made in the same factory. Even traces of peanuts can have a detrimental effect to those that have peanut allergies. It's best that the allergy sufferers are aware of this and it's also the law.. Plain M&Ms do not nor ever had peanuts, or any other kind of nuts, in their recipe. It does say may contain for health reasons for people with not allergies as nuts are in the factory for other candies. Once again misinformation from Wikipedia. I do not feel Wikipedia is a reliable source for information and should not be used as a source for answers to these questions.

Oh. If there was no difference, than plain M&Ms had peanuts also. If they did not, than there would be a difference. Look at the number of wrong answers. Unfortunate question.

Obviously by the answer provided, since the peanuts were ground in the plain m &m’s and whole in the Peanut m& m’s, that would make the peanut different. Very poor question.

I do not understand the answer why "peanuts" is not the right one, but then I'm a Brit so what do I know about US confectionery - and that's not a criticism.
