On U.S. TV on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", Betty White played the role of Sue Ann Nivens. Sue Ann was a fictional character on the situation comedy (MTMS); her persona had her playing the relentlessly perky star of the TV show "The Happy Homemaker". This show was on the fictional station of WJM-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nivens as the Happy Homemaker would fix anything, cook anything, clean anything, and sleep with anyone who was willing to be her partner.

In truth and although Sue Ann Nivens presented an image of sweetness and perfection onscreen, she was a sardonic person, man-obsessed, and very competitive individual in her dealings with others off her fictional TV screen.

The characters of Vicki Angel, Rose Nylund, and Elka Ostrovsky, were all played by Betty White. Respectively, Vicki Angel (a newlywed married to an insurance salesman named Gus on a short-lived 1957–1958 domestic sitcom "Date With the Angels"), Rose Nylund (a fictional character featured on the popular 1980s comedy "The Golden Girls"), and Elka Ostrovsky (a elderly Polish caretaker of the Cleveland home the L.A. ladies on the 2010–2015 TV series "Hot in Cleveland") were popular characters portrayed by White during her very long acting career (1939–2021).
