Overall, Nixon won 60.7% of the popular vote, a percentage only slightly lower than Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964, but with a larger margin of victory in the popular vote (23.2%), the fourth largest in presidential election history. He received almost 18 million more popular votes than McGovern, the widest margin of any United States presidential election. McGovern only won the electoral votes of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. No candidate since has managed to equal or surpass Nixon's total percentage or margin of the popular vote.

Yes I remember voting for Richard Nixon in 1972. It was the 2nd time I was able to vote. The first one being in 1968 as you had to be 21 to vote before 1970.

Do you not remember the Watergate break-in, his attempt to cover it up, the erasure of 18.5 minutes of Oval Office tape recordings, etc. He broke the law. He would have gone to jail if it were not for Ford's pardon. A US president is not above the law.
