Dr. Mary Albright is a professor of anthropology on which U.S. TV comedy series?
Dr. Mary Albright is a professor of anthropology on the U.S. TV comedy series "3rd Rock from the Sun". This 1996 - 2001 series created by Bonnie and Terry Turner is about a group of aliens (four) sent to Earth. They are disguised as a human family to experience and report about life on the 3rd planet from the sun. There is Dick Solomon (John Lithgow), the High Commander and leader of the expedition. He is the family provider and a physics professor at fictional Pendelton State University. Information officer and oldest member of the crew Tommy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) has been given the body of a teenager and is forced to enroll in high school (later college). Another member is security officer Sally (Kristen Johnston). The fourth is "the one with the transmitter in his head" Harry (French Stewart). He acts like a 20-something, bouncing through short-term jobs. The show also involves their many relationships with humans, mostly their love interests.
The show takes a great deal of humor from its mirroring of the human anthropological expedition and the assumptions by the aliens of superiority to the "natives", as well as their inability to distinguish themselves from the natives. Dr. Mary Albright (Jane Curtin) as a professor at Pendelton looks at many of the issues with which the four aliens struggle. She writes reviews about her finding and each of the four alien researchers end up looking more or less like 'joyriders' as they get drawn further and further into human life.
