Einstein's famous equation (pictured) gives the relation between the energy of a physical system "E" and the mass of the system "m". But what is "c"?
Einstein used the CGS system of units (centimeters, grams, seconds, dynes, and ergs), but the formula is independent of the system of units. In natural units, the numerical value of the speed of light is set to equal 1, and the formula expresses an equality of numerical values: E = m.

Not sure where the vacuum part came in at so I took a guess. All I could find was Energy equals mass times the speed of light Squared because of the 2, and 2 is not vacuum
